We cannot wait for the new season to begin!

With less than a month to go until Ibiza opens for party business, the levels of excitement are now stratospheric. The past few weeks have been a case of a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ stream of news, updates and reveals. From the announcements of thrilling new enterprises to reports of big names returning to the island, this summer is shaping up to be a memorable one.

At the time of writing the ‘season opening’ is less than three weeks away. You might have your Ibiza plans all sorted, but check out our first, second and third round ups if you need help in deciding when to visit the White Isle. As there has been so much news, we’ll be splitting up April’s round-up into two parts – check out part one below!

April

Pikes Opening | Friday 22 April – Sunday 24 April

The hedonistic hideaway opens its doors just before the commencement of the season. Pikes is a venue that doesn’t do anything in halves, so it’s apt that their opening lasts three days. It all kicks off on Friday afternoon with the outrageous Flash party with Guy Williams and Homoelectric supplying the sounds.

Saturday sees the returns of Pikes House Party with local heroes; John Acquaviva, Ben Westbeech, and Melon Bomb providing day to night disco revelry. Closing the first of many fantastic weekends are the Brothers Grim at Pikes on Sundays, where you can wine, dine and dance to your heart’s content.

Octan Opening | Thursday 28 April

Playa d’en Bossa’s underground haunt turns on its neon strip lighting and powers up the banging sound system to launch summer 2022. Octan’s raw and ready warehouse aesthetic is an environment that was made for raving until the early morning. Every season it attracts swarms of workers and party warriors to its smoky dance floor.

The only thing that really matters is the music, however, and this is something Octan does very well. Keeping it simple and sublime on the first night, respected selectors; Dan Ghenacia, Praslea and 2vilas feature on the smoke-filled stage.

May

Music On | Pacha | Friday 13 May

Italian tech master Marco Carola takes the Pacha Friday night throne once again. Having moved the residency from Amnesia to Pacha in 2019, the energy of the inaugural season at the new club was fuelled by the energy from Carola and co. It was clear to all that the brand would be back for round two in 2022.

Whilst the main attraction is Marco headlining every night, it’s often that you see many dance scene favourites filling up the line-ups. Carl Cox, Danny Tenaglia, Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati and Loco Dice are just some of the names we can expect to possibly see this summer.

Solomun+1 | Pacha | Sunday 22 May

Diynamic label boss plus one very special guest only and always. This two-act format has allowed this Sunday night sensation to become a firm favourite of clubbers on the White Isle. The party’s popularity is attributed to Solomun’s expert selection both in tracks and in curating his seasonal line-ups.

He and his guests are some of the great tastemakers on the DJing circuit today. The cherries on the cake are the special moments that come from the back to back sets, when guests and resident join forces in the late night. Make sure you end your week the correct way with a visit to this electronic music institution.

Flower Power | Pacha | Monday 23 May

A Pacha classic blooms for another season. This hippy-chic hangout is a fun playground filled with vibrant sights and sounds. It’s a real retro rave which showcases songs selected from the ’60s, ’70s, and ‘80s. If soul vibes and disco grooves are something that you love, then this joyful joint is the place you want to hop, skip and jump to on Mondays.

The colourful event is a nostalgia-fest when it comes to its decor and entertainment. Peace signs and flower garlands adorn the ceilings of this psychedelic wonderland, whilst the likes of Armand van Helden, Bob Sinclar and Louie Vega spin funky beats all night long.

Release | Es Paradis | Friday 27 May

London outfit Studio 338 deals the surprise card of the season run-up in unveiling the location where they’ll be spending the summer. Heading to the party town of San Antonio, the brand will be hosting their nights in golden oldie club, Es Paradis. But like a lot of things in 2022, there’s a gleaming twist to the story.

Newly refurbed for 2022, Es Paradis stands ready to put the Release party on the Ibiza clubbing map. Starting at two in the afternoon, you’ll once again be able to dance under a clear blue sky as the club opens up its famous terrace roof. A real old school Ibiza experience if we ever heard one.

Applebum | Ibiza Rocks | Saturday 28 May

The UK’s biggest urban event lands at the sunshine space of Ibiza rocks at the end of the month. Heating up the rhythms on the weekend, you can expect to hear the hottest hip-hop and Afrobeat hits, whilst sipping on a cocktail near a poolside stage.

In the past, the ‘home of the pool party has hosted DJ CharlesyDJ PolicyJoe Lobel, TangoDanny Beck and DJ Spinna on the sunshine stage. We expect DJs like these will whip up the dance floor into a wild frenzy, with chart smashing jams soundtracking these summer afternoons.

elrow | Amnesia | Saturday 28 May

The most insane and crazy party in Ibiza, the high octane thrills of elrow return to smash out a season of Saturdays at the iconic club. This energy-charged event is a splendorous spectacular with its mad themes and rocking beats. Tech House nights in Ibiza are ten a penny, but this one truly reigns supreme with its outlandish atmosphere and audacious aesthetic.

As well as witnessing the amazing spectacle of dancers, prancers and performers on stage, you find the finest DJs spinning a sexy mix of songs. Regulars like Toni Varga, Tini Gessler, De La Swing are frequently joined by the likes of Eats Everything, Skream, Kölsch Joris Voorn and more.

Encore – Traumer Invites | Octan | Sunday 29 May

Bringing Parisian flavour to the neon-lit underground spaces of Octan is French DJ Traumer. He is best known for minimal dance floor discs which contain rich soundscapes within. This season he’s been given responsibility for a set of three Sundays with a brand new club residency called ENCORE

The triple date Traumer invites hosts a nice mix of selectors from the dance music’s periphery; Enzo Siragusa, Sweely and Lauren Lo Sung to name a few. There is more yet to be revealed about ENCORE however as there are more dates set to be revealed very soon.

Part 2 out later on this week! Keep an eye on our news feed for more details
