Car hire

Car hire in Ibiza is cheap and easy. Rental vehicles are available from the airport as well as from car hire companies across the island. You’ll need to bring a valid UK driving licence with you if want to hire a car and a lot of rental companies also ask you for a credit card when you pick up your vehicle.

Driving

Like most of Europe, cars in Ibiza drive on the right. If you’re not used to driving on the other side of the road, the main thing to remember is that priority is given to cars coming from the left at roundabouts and crossroads. If you’re ever in doubt about who has right of way, it’s best to err on the side of caution and let the other driver go first.

Mopeds, motorbikes and scooters

Mopeds, motorbikes and scooters are a very popular way to explore the island. It’s compulsory to wear a helmet when driving on two wheels in Ibiza and the police are liable to dish out fines if they spot you without one. When riding a moped, motorbike or scooter in Ibiza it’s incredibly important to drive carefully. Don’t hire a bike that’s too powerful for you and always obey the rules of the road when you’re out and about.

Car Parking

Parking can be difficult in towns and cities on the island as well as at busy tourist spots. When searching for somewhere to park, keep your eyes peeled for the blue painted lines that designate paid parking zones. There’ll be a pay machine nearby where you can buy a ticket to display in your vehicle. Parking is generally free in Ibiza on Sundays, after 10pm during the week and during the siesta. However different zones have different rules so always check carefully before you park.

Boats and ferries

As an island, it’s no surprise that one of the best ways to get around Ibiza is by boat. Ferries connect many of the main resorts and attractions along the island’s shoreline, offering visitors a great way to get around and see the coast. Boats are also available to neighbouring islands. You’ll need to check the local schedule when you arrive in Ibiza to find out more.
