Hot from a string of sell-out shows across the UK, Old Skool Bingo has been transplanted to the iconic Linekers in Ibiza this year, with more shows to come in the new year. The event marks a growing shift toward themed party nights, with bingo games and dance competitions unfolding to old-school RNB classics.

The Appeal of Bingo

The success of Old Skool Bingo is consistent with a resurgence in the game in the UK. Bingo halls across England have reported younger demographics flocking to the game due to its ease of play and casual atmosphere. The boon has come at a much-needed time for the venues, with previous years seeing revenues gradually decline.

The accessibility of online bingo has also helped to fuel the game’s land-based popularity. Nowadays, you can find bingo promotions and offers available for online gameplay and a versatile selection of regular games that can be played at home or remotely. The online format has reignited the population’s love for bingo by incorporating new and fresh ideas into the traditional game. Old Skool Bingo’s organizers have taken a leaf out of online bingo’s book and put an innovative party twist on the classic game.

What is Old Skool Bingo?

Old Skool Bingo was first launched in London as a way to add more interactive elements to the nightlife experience. Over the years, the party grew in popularity, and there are now weekly events held in Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, and across Europe. The first party in Ibiza was held in June 2024, with a string of successful follow-up events held between July and September.

Tickets are priced between £16 and £120, with the higher-valued tickets offering food and beverage packages and access to VIP seating. The events will be taking a break over the Winter period but are expected to return during peak season.

What to Expect

The parties are often themed and offer a range of activities such as karaoke, costume and dance competitions, food and drink packages, and of course, bingo games. One consistent element of the parties is that they host a roster of DJs playing RNB anthems from the 90s, 2000s, and today.

Guests can win prizes from the bingo games and competitions, with charismatic hosts adding a flair of comedy to the proceedings. The events typically start at around 5 PM or 6 PM and last for up to four hours. This makes it a great event to start a big night out.

Ibiza’s Famed Bingo Parties

Long before Old Skool Bingo hit Ibiza’s shores, the Bongo’s Bingo Pool Party was a staple at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel. After three successful years, the party went on a five-year hiatus only to return this year. Similar to Old Skool Bingo, the party hosts several rounds of bingo with dance-offs and rave intervals. High-valued prizes are awarded to winners, including karaoke machines and cash. The event was held in September, with future iterations expected to start again in May 2025.

As themed party nights grow in popularity, we’re expecting a wild year ahead for Ibiza’s bingo scene. If the event’s success in the UK is anything to go by, Old Skool Bingo could become a weekly staple set to thumping RNB tunes.
