Sitting at the mouth of the only river in Ibiza, Playa del Río or “beach of the river” is aptly named, the island’s waters flow past a small harbour on the southern part of the seafront into the Mediterranean sea.

This harbour is a lovely place to take an afternoon stroll, with a modern footbridge connecting the two sides of the tree-lined waterway to the Siesta resort. You can often find water sport enthusiasts utilising the harbour area as a port for classes, with activities ranging from canoeing to sailing.

The beach offers golden soft sand and a shallow seabed, making it an ideal location for family’s to enjoy a day in the sun. Sunloungers are readily available for hire when you want to relax, but when holidaymakers are seeking thrills and adventure, look no further than the nearby watersports kiosk. This stall arranges activities for all age ranges, from jetski’s to banana boats, wakeboards to diving boat trips.

A large promenade connects Playa del Río to Playa de Santa Eulalia, which is only 10 minutes walk away. Additionally, the pathway acts as a perfect crossing for the local hotels which line the entirety of the beach.

Due to the quiet nature of the area, this beach and surrounding area is an escape for families and older couples. The town of Santa Eulalia is fully fitted with an array of local restaurants and shops, so vacationers will be able to find everything they need within a short distance away from Playa del Río.
