Located just beyond the traditionally picturesque village of Cala Vedella, this beach promises the amenities and facilities offered by the larger resorts but with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere unrivalled by most of the island’s beaches.
With comforting, warm, white sands and clean, crystal waters it is easy to see why Cala Vedella is so popular with families and children. Being located on a small bay, the beach benefits from little cross wind and has relatively calm, shallow waters, making it the perfect place to play and paddle in the ocean. Surrounded by the traditional architecture of the island, the low whitewashed stone buildings of the village seem a world away from the mega blocks and high rises of the packed resorts of Ibiza Town and San Antonio.
The beach at Cala Vedella offers visitors fantastic shower and toilet facilities along the seafront and local companies rent out sun loungers and parasols at competitive prices. There are a few small shops along the beach, offering the standard refreshments and drinks you would expect on a resort beach. However, being close to a village, there are a number of excellent restaurants and bars just a short walk away. For a spectacular end to the day, be sure to visit one of the fashionable clifftop bars and enjoy a drink while watching the sun go down over the horizon.
There is not much in the way of water sports on offer at Cala Vedella, except for dinghies and peddle boat hire, although you will be spoilt for choice if diving is your thing. One of the island’s most highly regarded diving schools operates from the beach and hires equipment as well as providing excursions to majestic dive sites.
Visitors to the beach should be reminded that parking in the village, especially during high season, is limited. Many visitors arrive early to grab a prime spot, such is the popularity of this fine beach and village.
