As we enter the 11th edition of this year’s IMS we take a look at the educational programme that will be delivered by 120+ electronic music artists and music industry professionals. It will take place over three days with dynamic workshops, illuminating keynotes and timely discussions.
IMS co-founder Pete Tong will pay tribute to the recent tragic passing of electronic superstar Avicii. In the wake of his passing the Association for Electronic Music will host a debate on why it’s time to protect the health of global artists and not the wealth of the global businesses this will be delivered by key industry figures.
Other points that will be discussed on the first day include sexual harassment in DJ culture which will be hosted by SHESAID.SO Honey Dijon and representivtives from DJ mag will discuss solutions to combat this sort of behaviour and to bring about change in dance music relating to diversity and inclusion. As always the IMS business report will be discussed as well as the highely anticipated value of the electronics dance music industry. Interviews from TODD ‘THE GOD’ TERRY, one of the most successful house music DJs of our time will discuss his career.
The annual IMS legends dinner will also take place at Heart this year. Where they will honour electronic music band Underworld. Underworld will also perform live later in the evening with support from Pete Tong and Mark Knight.
If day 1 is anything to go by then day 2 is sure to be another amazing day. By the loop will discuss drug testing at events and clubs. The loop are in high demand to increase testing at festivals and events. This is sure to be an interesting debate! Internet sensation Bradley Gunn Raver will discuss how sober raving is the way forward. Black Coffee will also be making an appearance with his team to discuss his residency at Hi Ibiza and the next chapter of his career.
Black rock city and Ibiza communities unite to explore and dissect misperceptions of two culture creators. Following this the highly anticipated annual Ibiza debate that always sparks spirited responses. Day three of the summit brings further milestone celebrations for legendary electronic music brands, with 25 years of SONAR shaping underground culture and 25 years of positiva records – The changing face of A&R. DEADMAU5 aka Joel Zimmerman will take part in a revealing discussion on all aspects of the past, present and future of his career.
The 11th edition of IMS is set to be one of the greatest years of the summit. With over 20 networking events and the IMS legends dinner paying tribute to UNDERWORLD with also the live show at Heart its one not to be missed. Not forgetting the party under the stars at IMS Dalt Vila to conclude the IMS 11th Summit.
