Every year, the International Music Summit kicks off the Ibiza summer season. The summit concludes with the IMS Dalt Vila party. One of the most hotly anticipated weekends of the year, it showcases some of the very best music talent from across Europe and around the world. In the past, the event has featured acts like Maceo Plex, Tale Of Us, Seth Troxler, Dixon, Annie Mac, Steve Angello and The Martinez Brothers, to name but a few. This year, the line-up was just as strong so it was no surprise that the party had sold out more than a week in advance.
On the weekend of the party itself, the weather on the White Isle was as idyllic as ever. Although perfect for dancing the night away, this did make the long walk up to the Dalt Vila, or ‘upper town’, a bit of a challenge. However, as you passed through the Portal De Ses Taules, the sound of the party booming at the top of the path reassured you that your efforts would be well rewarded.
The cobbled streets and stone buildings of the old town were reverberating from the beat of the music well before we reached the party, with the vibrations becoming more intense the closer we got to the epicentre of the event.
A back-to-back from Music On resident Paco Osuna and Ushuaïa Ibiza ANTS’ regular Andrea Oliva (one of our favourite djs!) was one of the first acts on and kicked off proceedings perfectly. As the sun began to slip below the horizon, the bouncy techno beat got the crowd warmed up and ready for the night to come.
As the venue filled to capacity, BBC Radio 1 legend and IMS Co-Founder Pete Tong took to the stage for a back-to-back with HEART Ibiza’s SAGA hosts Bedouin, giving the crowd an hour of wonderful melodic techno. As the strobe lights kicked up a level and the visuals got into full swing it was time for Dubfire and Nastia, two true techno legends. Reminiscent of the hardcore Berlin techno scene, the set went down a storm.
Rumors boss Guy Gerber was joined by special guest Danny Tenaglia when he took to the stage as darkness fell across the island. Packing their hour-long performance with more beats than you could shake a stick at, this proved to be one of the most memorable sets of the night.
Last on was Cocoon founder and international legend Sven Väth. The only set of the night that wasn’t a back-to-back, Sven shook the ancient fortress to its very core with some truly unique tracks. The perfect way to finish off an unforgettable night, the set brought the party to its close.
Once again, set after set of outstanding performances made the IMS Dalt Vila party one of the stand out events of the year. With plans already afoot to make next year’s event even bigger and better, IMS Dalt Vila 2019 is set to be a party to remember! We can’t wait!
