One Night Stand 3rd Birthday Celebrations
23rd September 2019 0 comments

Well that can I say about my little (big in the end) venture to DC10 on Friday night?..Straight up I can say I have nothing but good memories for this promoters final show of their season residency at the iconic DC 10.

Stepping onto the Terrace with my rave buddy and his friends that became my new rave crew quite soon, there’s something to be said about a place where you feel like you know everyone straight away, a real rave family vibe with a common love of the music, which I love.

dc10 one night stand

The first feeling I got was the energy that I felt from the crowd, not a single person was standing during Adam Chappell b2b with Smythy who is head honcho at Game Over, I imagine that set was extra special for him. Heads where nodding, feet were stomping as Chappell and Smythy warmed up things nicely for Tania Vulcano and Clive Henry. They showed emotive moments to a comfortable dance floor and a crowd I haven’t seen before, there was lots of space to dance and let loose but still the venue was nicely busy for this final dance off of the season for Game Over.

DJ duo Spokenn were on next, two DJs that I have never heard before, what an amazing set, clearly these two are serious about their music selection with attention to detail, delivering quality minimal house/stripped back deep tech house. A DJ duo I will watch with interest and follow now for sure.

Trauma the Parisian’s we all know and love in this scene as minimal house pioneers, powered in with catchy African percussive elements, filled with congas and bongos sounds, indigenous, ethereal vocals and powerful drops. I was in musical heaven and danced for their whole set with my new mates front
centre.

dc10 one night stand birthday

I’ve been keeping my Sunday nights interesting listening to Apollonia at Octan so when Dyed Soundorom came on to the now packed terrace dance floor, I felt in familiar musical territory but he took us on a journey and at the perfect time, with his crispy sounds, deep grooves and hypnotic rhythms blowing from speakers to the ever smiley crowd, I thought how is this night going to get any better as each set topped the next!.

Intriguing Romanian duo on the clubbing scene, Praslea and Cap, dug deep in their set in a sub genre so called Rominimal, the true Romanian sound, those who are familiar with Sunwaves Festival and Mioritmic, will know what I mean..

This duo closed a memorable night, I was there till 6.30am and I was almost swept out of One Night Stand’s 3rd birthday celebrations with the other night standers and Game Over team.

I don’t remember being in the club room at all, so sorry I can’t write about that space, I don’t use Shazam, I didn’t take pictures, all these memories are from me being there and every moment brought a smile to my face, new friends and unforgettable moment made. Thank you Game Over and roll on 2020 for you and us ravers!
