On Thursday 29th August, ‘Wax Da Jam’ and the ‘Last Night a DJ Saved My Life’ charity held a fundraising fiesta at Las Dalias, Ibiza that raised more than 8000€. The ‘Set For Love’ event brought together 30 of the islands most popular resident DJs and artists, all performing for free. 100% of the money raised will be used to build fresh water wells in India and Africa, through the charity’s ‘Have a Drink On Us’ campaign. The event also marked the summer closing party in Ibiza for Wax Da Jam, as part of their 10 year anniversary celebrations.
Jonny Lee, founder of Last Night A DJ Saved My Life said, “We would like to express our immense gratitude to the community of Ibiza who came together to make Set For Love such a success and the launch of a global initiative. To see the dancefloors at Las Dalias rocking with a purpose, to see the whole community coming together to make a difference, was to see the magical spirit of the island in full effect.
Over 8000€ raised means we can fund 3 more wells through our Have A Drink On Us Campaign.. These will provide fresh water to communities in Africa and India, transforming around 2000 lives and providing over 50 million drinks across 10 years. The impact of this event is very powerful and we thank each and every person who came to dance and who helped to make the event happen.”
George Evelyn aka Nightmares on Wax, founder of Wax Da Jam and the Set For Love concept said, “If ever there was a time to trust your heart and your vision, our Set for Love event at Las Dalias was it. Trust me! There were moments in the run up to the event where I was asking myself, ‘What have I created here? Are you sure about this? Is this the right thing to do?’
There’s a message for all of us in here. Your heart does not lie, follow it through no matter how challenging the task may be. Our event on 29th August at Wax Da Jam proved that. Thank you to everybody who got involved in any way possible. We are superhuman when we use our heart.”
Some of the island’s most popular and long standing resident DJs gave a set for love and played for free at the event including DJ Pippi, Graham Sahara, Andy Baxter, Eli Rojas, Andy Wilson and many more. The party was spread across four zones. A highlight of the evening was the intimate live jam session in Da Garden with Nightmares On Wax on the decks, Lovely Laura on saxophone, Wolfgang Haffner on drums and blondewearingblack on vocals.
Lucia Ortin, Venue Manager at Las Dalias said “The energy created at the Set For Love event was amazing. To see all those great artists working together for a good cause was very touching. The public enjoyed it a lot, the music was amazing and Wax Da Jam did it again! It was an honour for us to host this party in our home.”
