2nd December 2019 0 comments

It’s not over until the fat lady sings and as it goes on Ibiza, the party calendar is in fact never-ending. Its summer counterpart may get more of the press coverage, however, come winter, a select number of venues stay open and reboot their offerings for those cosier, drawn-out nights. With a largely local, intimate crowd that forms in the colder months, Ibiza’s winter nightlife has an appeal entirely of its own. Time to put away the summer sandals and don your best dancing boots – read on for the lowdown of events happening across December.

The glamorous, cabaret dinner and dance venue Lío will be keeping its Marina Botafoch postcode well and truly alive in the coming months. With all of the parties on its roster starting at 9pm and a special winter menu in tow, you can catch all of the famously grand Lío action with a dinner before all of the events. Every Friday the upscale dancehall will host Ibiza Talents, a showcase of the best local talent with regulars Andy Baxter, Eder Alvarez and Cristian Viviano on the decks. Prolific promoters Game Over, bring their successful house concept LiFT on 5th and 21st December only. Their night has already entertained at the likes of Pacha and Tanit Beach Club. Lío’s club will further remain open on holiday dates 7th, 24th and 28th December.

A stone’s throw away, the illustrious HEART Ibiza is also getting stuck into some end-of-year fiesta starters. A multi-sensorial journey awaits inside the visionary nightclub with Moon Harbour presents ‘Round And Round’. Thursday 5th December sees a wormhole of tech-house selectors take to the stage – wAFF, Milou, Santé and Matthias Tanzmann – for a penetrating takeover of the stylish dancefloor. Colourful and audacious, the LGBT-friendly La Troya is set for a winter edition of its entertainment-stacked nights. From 14th December catch eye-popping shows alongside DJs Oscar Colorado, Paul Darey and Felix Da Funk.

For something with more of a grassroots flavour, you don’t want to miss the Underground opening party Saturday 7th December. The San Rafael club is somewhat of a tucked away gem and is the place to go for clubbing that’s stripped to its core. From 11pm catch spinners Don Juanito, 2Vilas and Colin in the booth. The following day, you’ll want to get to the coast for Bora Bora’s daytime house special. 8th December will see a 14-hour shift put in by Dan Ghenacia’s GoDEEP concept, in tow are friends, Quest, Stephane Ghenacia and 2Vilas once more.

Lose yourself to a kaleidoscopic soundtrack of the otherworld with Ethereal at Markus Chef’s Kitchen. The party brings together music and art for what is always a fantastical journey into the shapeshifting worlds its resident DJs create. Dine beforehand in the enchanting oasis garden and then buckle in for a line-up comprising of Medusa Odyssey, Maricha and Sylvia Operè, Sunday 8th December, starting from 1pm.

A further underground-led option that’ll no doubt satisfy those cravings for a pounding Soundsystem is Octan. The former Sankeys venue is laying on a duo of Christmas-special raves. Saturday 14th December sees the Others Crew ‘Pre Xmas Family Rave’ with Nima Gorji and Ignacio Morales leading the pack alongside Rickzor & Rummer, RAUL VEGA and Alejandro Fernandez. 21st December is set for a takeover by record-store MTM, they’re bringing along Tania Vulcano, Jay Nortown and 2Vilas among others for a festive special.
