The small, traditional, inland village of San Llorenc is the perfect destination to experience the rustic charms of rural Ibiza.

The postcard-perfect hamlet, hidden 17km northeast of Eivissa, in rugged, rocky terrain, guarantees an authentic island experience, away from the coastal tourist traps and modern beach resorts.

Life moves at a slower pace in Sant Llorenc, and you will find it hard to believe that you are on the same island as San Antonio and Ibiza Town. As is customary in small Ibizan villages, the whitewashed church dominates life in Sant Llorenc. The village also contains two highly recommended restaurants, popular with locals – Casanova, offering simple and rustic local dishes, and Paloma, a lively and colourful modern eatery with a vibrant café-culture vibe. Visitors should be aware that there are no ATM facilities in the village and electronic payments are infrequently offered, meaning in this rural settlement cash is king, further emphasising the rustic charm.

Beyond the village lies a beautiful hilly woodland, belonging to the Can Pere Mosson Country Park, which offers scenic walking trails, panoramic picnic areas and stunning views across central Ibiza. The park is popular with local families, especially at the weekend, however the vast forest ensures that you can walk for hours without seeing another soul.

The neighbouring hamlet of Balafia is also worth a visit to view the defensive towers dating back to the settlers of Moorish Ibiza. Visitors can experience both of these villages by following the kilometre of dirt track linking these tiny settlements. Lined with rustic, traditional dwellings, these unique architectural delights are unlike any other buildings on the island and truly reflect the historic nature of this area of Ibiza. Still privately inhabited by locals, these living museums offer a welcome and surprising alternative to the modern Ibiza seen on the coast.
