An incredible combination of The Unusual Suspects, Cassy, Sidney Charles and more played for Sankey’s 2018 summer season epic finale. When the eager crowd arrived at the underground venue, Sankeys had once again mastered a dark and heavy mood of thumping bass in impossibly beautiful surroundings.
The stellar line-up for Sankeys’ finale had attracted a huge crowd ready to dance ’til they dropped. The line-up featured the most celebrated names from electronic music’s underground, so the crowd was not going to be disappointed.
The night started perfectly with Rick Maia and Federico Grazzini grabbing the crowd’s attention by opening the night with track after track of illicit bangers in the Basement. The atmosphere on the dance floor was starting to gather momentum as the pairing complimented each other’s skill set as they rocked the decks together. Every tune they unleashed brought the intensity in the room up a notch further.
Then the ante was upped by Seb Zito, whose new track released on Seth Troxler‘s Play It Say It label had everyone jumping with excited delight.
This was quickly followed by the Unusual Suspects, who wowed the crowd by demonstrating their technical expertise by dropping three hugely different tracks – Denis Sulta‘s Dubelle Oh XX, The Ha Dance by Masters At Work and K’Alexi Shelby‘s Black Sunday. Each one was a masterful example of their precise technical ability on the decks, getting everyone in Sankeys crying out for more.
By the end of their set, Rick Maia and Federico Grazzini had Sankeys’ Basement reverberating with revelry and eagerness for more. This pairing should be watched closely – we’re sure we’ll be seeing more of them in the future!
In the LAB, Sidney Charles was busily smashing out banger after banger of blistering beats. Everything seemed to have come together perfectly to create the ideal clubbing environment; the sound, the crowd, the lights and the smoke. It was the epitome of what Sankeys Ibiza does best.
This was Sidney at his very best. When this remix of a Gref Gow stomper took over the place, Sankeys went off! Some serious shapes were being thrown all over the venue as enthusiastic clubbers erupted with joyous shouts of ‘Tune!’
After tearing ourselves away from the LAB and taking a quick breather on the roof terrace, we moved back into the Basement where Cassy’s set was just getting started… and what a set!
Flashmob‘s edit of this pre-millennium Basement Jaxx classic had people practically punching Sankeys’ subterranean ceiling with excitement. The atmosphere in the room was electrifying.
After that, Cassy thrilled the Basement by taking the cheerful crowd on an electrifying journey through her immense record collection, leading the Basement merrily towards the night’s end.
Unusual Suspects delivered, with full-force, a night that had all that you would
expect from a real Ibiza club tear-up; it was the ultimate underground party at the ultimate underground haunt. What’s more, it was the perfect way to say ‘So long’ to Sankeys and summer 2018!
