Keeping the old-school alive with a selection of hero acts from the golden days, Boom Boom Live is the ultimate throwback party to grace Ibiza. The brand-new party takes over the grounds of an equally vintage location, Es Paradis, where the best of the 80s, 90s and 00s come alive to transport the dancefloor back to good-vibe times. Coming up to its second month, already legendary names to the tune of Sonique, The Sugarhill Gang and Ratpack have performed yet brace yourselves for this week’s grouping. Thursday 1st August marks another big night for the team, Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B will be featuring alongside General Levy on a B2B with Darren Jay plus special guests.
As much of an education as an unabashed night out, Boom Boom Live hosts a series of live acts every Thursday of the week. This is nostalgia done authentically, with real life icons that come to set the stage once again. Movers and shakers from times pre-noughties start this week with General Levy. One of the biggest contributors to the urban music scene in the UK and one of the most sought-after MCs, Levy’s lifetime achievements are a testament to his will. From throwing parties in his teens to producing mainstream toppers ‘Tell Me Why’ and ‘You Can’t Hurry Love’, his performance alongside jungle DJ Darren Jay is sure to go down a treat. While Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B needs no introductions, for those who grew up with pirate radio, the final act on the roster is Pat Sharp.
Radio, television presenter ad DJ, Sharp is perhaps the surprise guest of the night being most recognised for his appearances on kid’s TV show, Fun House. The retro host like his counterparts grew up hustling the scene, throwing parties with just a few gadgets and his get-go. With several decades of experience behind the week’s line-up collectively, quality performances by those who know how to work a crowd best is the calling card of this extravaganza. And, keeping spirits high and the going easy, the night isn’t going to put a dent into your morning after. Doors open at 9pm and the show wraps up at 4am making it an ideal option for those who want a good time at a good hour. While Es Paradis is known as one of the more affordable night-time venues to serve the White Isle’s fun-loving crowd, the perks just get better at Boom Boom Live. If a roster of hot acts isn’t enough, drinks promotions run at the start of the night slashing the euros further.
Among it’s neighbouring club-night brothers and sisters, Boom Boom Live sets a tidy bar. One of only a handful of nostalgia nights, the genre of party is popular for the feel-good factor. Shuttling revellers back to a time when things were simpler and care-free, the sounds coming straight from this booth is sure to tick to that box. Now halfway through its residency, the explosive affair continues till 12th September. And, the rest of the summer is set to be a sizzling one. Former Spandau Ballet lead singer Tony Hadley is yet to come alongside Curiosity Killed the Cat and acclaimed Hacienda DJ, Graeme Park. Blink and you’ll miss it!
