Children of the 80s
20th June 2019 0 comments

Brimming with nostalgia and an action-packed stage show, Children of the 80s is the ultimate throwback party. While those more familiar with the era will certainly get swept away at this extravaganza, the spectacular antics and twists on old favourites makes this an event open to anyone. Set in the lavish grounds of the Hard Rock Hotel in Playa D’en Bossa, tacky is not the name of this game. Legwarmers, impressive perms and flamboyant energy abound yet come polished and packaged in an insatiably entertaining night-time feast.

What begun in 2015 and has swept the island over, the creative geniuses behind several successful concepts – The Night League – are at the helm of this fiesta. Scrapping the tried and tested model of DJs and lightshows, music comes vividly alive at Children of the 80s. Live performances from the likes of iconic musicians – Barbara Tucker, Corona and Blackbox – intermingle with dynamic, effervescent dance shows. Troupes of entertainers take over the towering stage, clad in signature golden era garments, throwing out more energy than the bellowing singers. What is undeniably an electrifying concoction, the mood at these parties is always one of united singing, dancing and cheering along.

In between all of the power-performances, DJ sets break up the evening. Acts to the tune of Dream Team Reload and La Movida take to the decks to keep the classic anthems rolling and the smiles firmly planted on everyone’s face. Yet, the theatrics don’t stop there as the DJ performances come with their own rainbow-themed, attention-stealing stage production. Gold-streamers, confetti cannons and ice blasts galore, Children of the 80s makes sure every minute is as energy-packed as the last. And, with no roof to contend with on the open-air grounds, dancing underneath the stars make this knees-up all the more magical.

Children of the 80s is a great affair for those looking for a light-hearted, fun-filled evening that doesn’t cut into anyone’s beauty sleep. Stopping at midnight, it’s the ideal event to go to post-dinner and for groups of guests. The laidback affair is one for easy drinks, making friends with your neighbours over favourite tunes and simply nothing but good vibes. Drawing a happy, mixed crowd, the party of course encourages outlandish costume yet anything goes at this dazzling affair.
