Last night we escaped San Antonio to venture to DC10 to see the final ‘One Night Stand’ Party of the summer from Ibiza based promoters ‘Game Over’.
With a line up to match the most established brands and nights on the island, I was interested to see how this night would unfold.. Dc10 is my favourite club on the island and always been to me a true example of the real Ibiza clubbing experience. On entering the garden at 10pm Carl Cox was just starting his hour and a half set, and we stayed in there for the first part, pushing right to the front of the dance floor. Carl had his crowd locked in and as he dropped each track the energy and the atmosphere grew.
We saw staff dressed as referees giving red card warnings to clubbers who were using their phones on the dance floor, posters and hanging signs with ‘ SnapBacks, not Snapchats’ and ‘Vibes not
videos’ were evident throughout the three dance areas, this is the first review at Clubbers App to Ibiza to not have an accompanying live video or any footage, a refreshing change for us and we didn’t miss it, although we can not share with you what we saw, so there’s always a downside to a media blackout, but full respect to the promoters for this change we fully support this to better all our clubbing experiences and it’s something Carl Cox has recently been very vocal about. We enjoyed seeing him chuckle at the decks when ‘Game Over’ refs approached the phone users with whistles in their mouths.
For me, I was pre-event drawn to the club and terrace rooms and planned my evening to be in there as the line up included local Ibiza talents, which started off for me with DJ Danny Miller aka Miller who this summer has had successful releases on labels Jack House and his own Real Gang label. I didn’t really leave this room for the rest of my time in DC10 as the music was on point and once Carl had finished in the garden the dance floor was packed and the vibe continued on. Miller had the crowd locked in an underground stripped down house groove and you could see he had a real following and support from many familiar faces, his Real Gang colleagues in the both also, it was evident this was a special night for him. This was great to see, a grassroots level DJ playing at DC10 with his crew.
Next up was Micheal James who alongside Miller is also a regular in Ibiza at nights such as The Zoo Project and the venue ‘Underground’, James took us into the next stage of the night with his dubby minimal house groove and like Miller his selection was top notch and it was good to see both DJs also using vinyl. I left the club room to briefly experience the terrace and at that point Rossko known for his Fuse residency had it going off to a packed room, the atmosphere was electric and the removal of phones in the air was no more evident than in here.
My time in the club was short sadly but from what I saw of the ‘One Night Stand’ event from ‘Game Over’ it was on a par with other brands I regularly see in DC10 and I look forward to seeing this brand grow. With the old Carl Cox revolution team at the helm, it seems like they have already proven themselves here in Ibiza.
Thanks for having us and we look forward to seeing your next season events schedule in Ibiza and maybe further afield..
