The ultimate party calendar overview: Part 1
3rd April 2019 0 comments

It wouldn’t be the start of a new clubbing season for Ibiza without the fanfare and surprise of the event calendar announcements. As the days start to get longer and we begin shedding our winter coat skins, our minds come out of party hibernation and the questions inevitably come surfacing. Who and where are going to shock collaborate this year? Are our favourite parties relocating or staying put? Has Space made its comeback yet? Since as early as December, the news bites have been drip-feeding into our circle and now, mere weeks away from showtime, the pieces are coming together. Loaded with all the latest from the White Isle, we present the first of a two-part overview of what’s to come. Start dusting off those dancing sandals, folks.

Getting in there fast and early is HEART Ibiza with the opening of the mesmeric Heart Factory, Friday 5th April. Moon Harbour boss Matthias Tanzmann will be showcasing his expressive label alongside tech-house gem Dennis Cruz; the club’s avant-garde production is always a match for this front running event. The open-air beckons towards the latter part of the month with King of the beach club, Blue Marlin, setting off their opening with dance music icon Erick Morillo. Leading the glamorous pack at this haunt for a day-to-night knees-up, Sunday 21st April, promises plenty of glorious anthems. Friday 26th April follows with the soft opening of the freshly rebranded poolside party haven, O Beach Ibiza – tip: entry is free till 11th May. And of course, our mecca for no-frills fun, Pikes, is opening its doors Saturday 27th April with the likes of Artwork and Doorly on deck.

As the season shifts from a light jog to a steadier run, we reach the month that, at present, is packing the most excitement-factor. The highly anticipated Amnesia explodes into May with a weighty opening. Saturday 11th May sees a hair-raising concoction of Adam Beyer, Matador, Luciano and the Martinez Brothers – and that’s not all! With more acts to be announced in the run-up to, it’s looking like dancing till the sun comes up is on the cards. Thursday 16th May, sees techno giant Marco Carola unleash his palpable force in an all-new location of Pacha. Yes, that’s right, Music On is moving on to glossier dancefloors and frankly, it’s looking like one for the books.

Keeping the record-breaking news coming is Hï Ibiza and Ushuaïa Ibiza’s joint opening bash, Odyssey, Saturday 18th May. Was it perhaps the success of a twin-closing last season that have brought these sisters together again? Whatever the reason, we’re taking it! Tale of Us, Peggy Gou, Stephan Bodzin and more are to reign over Ushuaïa Ibiza while post-midnight, the likes of Richie Hawtin, Andrea Olivia and Damian Lazarus conquer neighbouring Hï Ibiza. Odyssey, the event paying homage to the golden days of non-stop Ibiza, has certainly made Christmas come early with this extravaganza.

Circo Loco at DC10 keeps the techno torch alight with its opening on Monday 20th May. The roster is TBA but it goes without saying, expect big things. And yet, you can expect bigger things with pioneering Cocoon making a historical move. Saturday 25th May sees a one-off special by the techno mega-brand at Ushuaïa Ibiza. Papa Sven dominating this glitzy poolside hotspot is one to be seen but if you don’t fancy it, their Amnesia opening follows just days after on the 27th.

To round off what’s looking like a hot month, the ever-popular Flower Power at Pacha makes its debut, 29th May, and a return to its original time slot of a Wednesday – make note! A jump straight into heady peak-season and RESISTANCE is back, Tuesday 23rd July, at Privilege. The techno party to send the island into bedlam every week is making sure it does just that with its opening – Adam Beyer, Sasha and John Digweed, Hot Since 82 and Eats Everything, anyone? And finally, our favourite Scotsman has claimed new territory. Calvin Harris at Ushuaïa Ibiza – the opening, Friday 2nd August.

It’s fair to say Ibiza 2019 is spoiling us already. Shock moves, champion line-ups and new collaborations – who ever said a season couldn’t be topped? Keep your eyes peeled for Part 2 and a finger on Sky Scanner…
